A little more progress on Tessa and Cosmos...and I started the first of a few bird paintings I will be doing in January for a 2/1/10 show submission....this is an immature Great Cormorant that I saw one day on a sandbar on Stafford Lake - late in October, during their migration....an unusual sighting, so naturally it finds its way to the easel. After being away from the easel for a few days, it feels so GOOD to be back! Happy New Year!

A New Painting...

Image
The beginning of my fiurst painting to be completed in 2010....Tessa and Cosmos, a special gift for someone...

A walk in the woods....

Image
It's imperative that I go for walks in the woods....that is what feeds the part of me that paints.....this is this afternoon's wanderings. It was just after a tiny snowfall, as the cold front was moving in.

My granddaughters...

Image
This is a painting of my granddaughters that I have been working on since Tuesday....I gave it to my son today so now I can post it!

Ready to frame....

Off to light the fire in the woodstove in the framing studio.....Mystic and Nalla are ready to frame!

Tuesday's

Image
Almost finished with the dog painting....and I played just a little today with the mural. Taking a photo of it was difficult, there was not enough light, so I left the flourescent light above it on...which means the flag looks washed-out. I'm getting there...VERY slowly!

A little more time at the easel...

Next...2 Goldens!

Finished!

Oops....

THIS is Dixie - the other Shepherd's name is Bonnie....they are going to the same person for a very special Christmas gift. I'm so absorbed into painting I forgot to take a photo earlier in the process...

Dixie is finished....3 more to go before Christmas! 3 now waiting for matting and framing...I think I will fire up the wood stove in my framing studio today!

Today's progress at the easel....

Back at the mural...

The painting I finished yesterday and a wee bit more progress at the mural....

Tonight's progress...

Image

Legless horse....temporarily!

Image
It's difficult to work on the lower part of the mural, as it is at floor level, today was a bad knee day so I did not get too much accomplished - but every little bit adds up until it is finished!
Worked on the portraits a bit too...

New painting started....

Sulkies lost in the glare...

Image
I added sulkies at the far end of the track today and that is the area where I get the glare from the windows when I take a photo, so I'll just tell you they are there! A couple more people arrived today also...

Itchy again...

Image
The photo is blurry, but I think good enough to see I have added background color and changed her from a lying-down position to sitting up....far from finished but I'm happy with its progress so far.

If you build it they will come....

A few minutes at the mural...

I only had a few minutes there this morning - enough to work on the horse a bit. Next I want to get the crowds of people in....another challenge that is beckoning me!

Jesse is finished!

I just had to draw one in....didn't go any farther with it because I wanted to look at it on the computer screen to check on the size....what do you think?
