"Early Morning Neighbors" - Finished!

Image

Close to completion...

Image
I would love to finish this today.....
I could use some help in naming it....any suggestions? I have a couple of ideas but nothing that 'clicks'....

The Heron and the Goose continuing...

Image
I'm finding it hard today to do other work that needs to be done - every time I look at this painting I see another thing I need to do...then I pick up the pastel and before I know it, an hour has passed! Next I think is to darken the water...I put detail into the goose so that I can work on the grass around him next...

Heron in the tree...

Drew out the beginning of my "Tree Heron"....

Heron and Goose

Trying to re-create the moment....

The agony of defeat....

I am not able to get this blog to accept a picture right now....but I did finish the mural painting and will post it when I can....
After I finished that painting this morning I spent three hours finishing my geese painting and was quite pleased with it. I always take my pastel paintings outside to shake the dust off before framing....I did that....and watched probably the last 5 hours of work on it fall away as dust. So much for the new boards I bought....the cormorant painting did the same thing....after spending so very many hours on these 2 paintings I was heartbroken....and angry. so I will not buy that board again - and will re-do those paintings even better on my wonderful Wallis pastel paper......you could pound on the back of that paper and the pastel won't fall off........

Wilcox Pond

Image

Monday morning...

Image
Yesterday someone told me about Wilcox Pond in Shenipsit Forest....a pond I had not yet found...so I went there this morning and here are some of my sightings...

Birches

Image
Added some birches....and finished for the day....

The magic paintbrush...

Image
My magic paintbrush continues to change the landscape...trying different things...changed the direction of the road and adding a couple more trees. It occurs to me that this painting is both about "going" and "staying".......if that makes any sense to anyone else : )
