Still working at it....if I can let go of the opposite-hand frustration maybe then I can 'feel' what I'm doing.....

Opposite hand painting

The good news is, I finished my first feather painting done with my left hand.....I call it opposite-hand painting......the bad news, I can't publish it because it is a commission, a Christmas gift for someone who just might see it if I put it on the Internet....more to come though   : )  It came out pretty good but it took a LONG time to do!

post-op painting

Image
my first post-op painting...half of it was started on the frosty morning when i visited the geese....and now i am post-op on the right hand, am finishing this painting with the 'opposite' hand...an exciting challenge.....

New feathers....and hand surgery

Image
Home from my surgery - arthroplasty (joint reconstruction) of my right thumb as well as a steroid injection to my left thumb - trigger finger - they did a nerve block for the right thumb nerve so that arm is dead for today, but will be a whole different story 24 hours from now LOL Moved the mouse to the left side of the computer, am now officially left-handed....watch out world! I have been burning the midnight oil lately to get all of the Christmas commissions finished, all but one are completed and I am confident that my left hand is up to the task. A very positive note for today (thank you, nerve block!)

Plymouth

Image
A very busy weekend in Plymouth, MA...I was set up in the Crafters' Pavilion during their Thanksgiving "America's Hometown" celebration. The parade on Saturday lasted for more than 2 hours....what I saw of it was magnificent! It was a great event in a beautiful setting....right near where I go on whale watches. I was too busy to take many photos, these are a few.....

A beautiful sunrise Saturday.....and I was lucky to have some moments Sunday morning to wander on the beach and talk to the gulls  : )

The most magnificent flag hung over the parade route. Note the confetti all over the grass on the hill!

Oh well.....

Image
So much for my first left-handed painting. I was determined to finish it with my left hand but I really goofed it up when I went back to it 2 nights ago.....so, instead of charcoal out came the pastels and my right hand. Today I realized the eyes were too close together so that is fixed, might finish it today. Soon I won't have the option of using my right hand so then I will discipline the left one....not today.
