I have not been posting because......

I am working on a commission that demands a lot of my time....and at the same time is very close to my heart. It is a gift to an Internet follower, so I cannot post it, but will sometime soon.

A day of beginnings.....

Two more paintings started....the eagle painting already has a name, "Against the Wind". The other is an area of the Park that I have not painted before....where the sun lights up the red rocks at a certain time of the day.

A Raven Story.....

I am in Cape Breton at the moment, the place where a lot of my inspiration for paintings originates....

This morning I hiked the Skyline Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, an almost 6 mile long trail on the top of a mountain at the edge of the sea. I found a lot of bear scat, some coyote scat, but no moose scat...unusual....and did not see any moose, also unusual. They had a warning sign up for coyote presence but I did not see any. The bear were also elusive.

As I was getting out of my van I heard a raven singing a call that I know well from time spent in Julian the raven's presence at Horizon Wings.I was surprised to find him atop a tree very close to me. As I started taking photos, his mate came....and his calls ended and were replaced with a sweet greeting unlike I have ever heard. They were demonstrably glad to be reunited, spent a few more minutes there before heading out together.
